Drake - 10 Months

It's hard to believe that in a short 2 months Drake will be turning 1. 9 Months was such a fun age:
*Drake began his "crab crawl" -- crawling on one knee and the other foot.
*He waves "hi" and "bye" and recently started whispering bye bye bye bye.
*He claps and loves playing pat-a-cake and peek-a-boo!
*He smiles, laughs and giggles when tickled under his chin, on his legs or under his arms but also started just laughing when you make funny faces at him or try to get him!
*His first word was dadda but some of his other favorites are mama, ca (for Stormy our cat), byebye, and papa.
*He loves playing catch with any kind of ball.
*Drake is such a happy, smiley, busy little boy who loves his new freedom of crawling (and now trying to pull himself up on things). He brings such joy into our family and to all the people that he encounters! We are blessed.
*Other random things:
Drake has moved into the rear-facing convertible carseat as he is about to outweigh the infant seat (he is around 21lbs).
He goes to bed around 7pm and sleeps 11-12 hours at night.
He has 7 teeth and has been a really great "teether"
Gabe's cousin Laura continues to watch him during the day while we are at work and we know that he is loved and cared for. Laura's husband Justin comes home each day at lunch time and loves playing with Drake -- especially catch!

Big Brother!

Drake is so excited to finally be able to share the news that he is going to be a big brother!!!! We are expecting #2 September 27th so Drake and his baby brother/sister will be 15 months apart! I'm 18 weeks this week and have been feeling great!

slacker..

Wow, I can't believe that I got behind before I actually got caught up...

Drake is growing so fast and I love seeing how much he changes and experience the new things that he does! It was so much fun when he began to smile and it's even more fun now that he giggles and "talks" a lot more! He is currently rolling from his back to his belly but has yet to roll from his belly to his back.
Here are the first 4 months of Drake.

Thankful for...

1. my husband -- laidback, loving, committed. It has been so fun to see him fill his role as daddy. He is head over heals for Drake and does his part to take care of him. and for me...I wouldn't be able to ever get to work on time without him, he makes breakfast, lunch and is the one who takes Drake to Aunt Laura's 4 days/week.
2. Drake -- our sweet baby boy. He is growing and changing every day!! His precious smile melts my heart. I am trying to enjoy every moment of his babyhood because I know he will be a toddler before long!
3. family -- every person has impacted our life in some way. It is so fun to watch our neices and nephews grow & change each year. Hailey - 10, Hannah - 7, Colin - almost 4, Carter - 3 & Brynn - 9 Weeks.
4. friends -- what a blessing they are! generous, fun, great people to share life with.
5. The change of season -- although I love, love, love summer -- I love the sunny, warm fall days as the trees change colors and we are able to enjoy the outdoors.
6. God -- He has blessed us abundantly. I am thankful for His love, promises, faithfulness and listening ear.

What are you thankful for?

It's a Boy!

Dr. decided to induce me Thursday, June 24 after my blood pressure was high at my appointment for the 2nd week in a row. Gabe and I did not come to our appointment prepared to have a baby, so we had to go home and grab our bags (and I spent some time cleaning up around the house) and we headed back to the hospital to get things started. At my appointment, Dr. had scraped my membranes which had started mild contractions, so we were able to skip the cervidil and start right on the pitocin. My body was contracting so frequently (which thankfully the contractions were not strong) that my dr. decided to let me rest that night because I wasn't progressing and he wanted to give baby and I a break. Early Friday morning, they started the pitocin, I got the epidural around noon, napped, started pushing around 4pm and at 5:57pm, Gabe pulled the towel off baby to find out that we were the proud parents of a sweet baby boy!
